Mariam Huizar
Mariam Huizar, soprano,
graduated cum laude with her Bachelor of
Music in Vocal Performance from the University
of Texas San Antonio in May 2004. Ms.
Huizar is a two-time finalist in the TEXOMA
regional NATS competition, and a two-time
finalist in the South Texas Chapter NATS
competition. Her honors include the Walker
Opera Award, Lucila Montoya Waldman Award for
Spanish song, the Herald Stark Encouragement
Award and the Oscar J. Fox Award for Outstanding
Freshman.
Mariam has previously appeared
as the First Spirit in Mozart's Die Zauberflote,
and Foreign Woman in Menotti's The Consul.
Ms. Huizar has also appeared as Sandman and
Mother in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel and
Countess Almaviva in Mozart's Le Nozze di
Figaro.
Mariam has been featured as
the soprano soloist in Bach's Magnificat,
Handel's Messiah and various other major works.
Currently, Ms. Huizar is the
soprano soloist at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
